Have you heard about the free rod giveaway, and are now wondering how to wish for a rod in Fisch? This guide goes over how to do it, what we know so far, and if you can wish for any rod in Fisch. For a full list of those available and unavailable, check out our Which Rods Can You Wish For in Fisch guide.

How to Wish For a Rod in Fisch

Wishing for a rod is a feature exclusive to the Fischmas 2025 event! Once the event ends, you can no longer wish for a fishing rod.

To summarise it, there is a letter to Santa that you can send, wishing for a fishing rod of your choice. There’s a blank space where you can type in the name of a rod before signing it. The letter reads:

Dear Santa,

For Fischmas I want:

[Name of fishing rod]

Sincerely, [Your username]

Merry Fischmas!

When to Send Santa’s Letter

Once you have selected which fishing rod you want, you must wait until the 24th of December to send the letter to Santa. You have until the 26th of December to send this letter, so make sure you log in between the 24th and 26th of December to not miss out. We’re assuming the free fishing rods are sent to players either on the 26th of December or the 27th, the day after the sending period concludes.

When you’re playing Fisch, you can see Santa’s Letter to the right of your screen. Click on this to open the letter and to find the text box where you can enter the rod you want to wish for.

Can You Ask For Any Rod?

Sadly not. For instance, you cannot ask for one of the Developer Rods, Creator Rods, or Rods From Rewards or Trophies. However, you can ask for a fishing rod that is locked behind a level requirement. But you can’t use it until you reach that level. It’ll sit in your inventory until you meet the requirement.

Other rod types that you can wish for include Music Venue rods, rods from events and quests, and more. We’ve linked to our other guide at the top of this page, which goes over what you can and cannot wish for.
