My Bridger Western Fishing guide is the best companion when dipping your toes in the water. With a fishing rod, you can catch fish to sell and cook in Bridger Western.

Bridger Western Fishing

It’s always a great game when there’s a fishing mechanic. Let’s see how it works in Bridger Western.

How to Fish

It may seem obvious, but to fish, you need a fishing rod. You need bait first and foremost before casting your line. Once a fish bites, a quick time event (QTE) appears, with a duration determined by how rare the fish is. Bait increases the speed of your pull time by 2x and uses 1x bait for each catch.

Where to Get a Fishing Rod

The Tackle Bait fishing shop sells a fishing rod for 150 coins, as well as bait for 15 coins.

Fish Rarities

When fishing, there are a variety of fish to catch of different rarities, ranging from Common to Legendary.

  • Common Rarity
    • 81.7% chance to catch
  • Rare Rarity
    • 16.25% chance to catch
  • Epic Rarity
    • 2% chance to catch
  • Legendary Rarity
    • 0.5% chance to catch

What Can You Catch?

As well as fish, you can also fish up other items, including:

  • Chests
  • Arrow Shards
    • 0.5% chance
    • Unlocks a random Stand
      • This item cannot be used if you already have a Stand. You won’t get a Stand that has a super-specific obtainment method, and if you are defeated with the Arrow Shards in your inventory, you lose the item upon respawning. The same goes if you exit the game, too
  • Mares Leg (weapon)
    • The version you fish up is rusted, and you need to take it to Flint the Blacksmith. He repairs it in exchange for 1.5K coins
      • Like the Arrow Shards, if you are defeated with the Rusted Mares Leg in your inventory, you lose the weapon

The fish you can catch are:

  • Cod
    • Common rarity
    • Sells for 35 coins
  • Bass
    • Common rarity
    • Sells for 45 coins
  • Snapper
    • Common rarity
    • Sells for 25 coins
  • Golden Bass
    • Legendary rarity
    • Sells for 15K coins
      • There is currently a bug where this fish sells for 1K to 1.5K coins. This will be fixed in a future patch, increasing the selling price to 15K coins

Cooking

You can use your caught fish to cook dishes. When eating these dishes, you unlock a buff, which depends on the type of fish and its rarity.

To cook any fish, you need to find a campfire. Make sure to keep an eye on it whilst it’s cooking, as if it’s on the fire for too long, the food becomes burnt.

Take note that the Golden Bass fish cannot be cooked.

Cooked Fish Buffs

Once you eat a cooked fish, you automatically gain a buff for a short duration. If you’re not bothered about the buffs, you can sell the fish for coins. However, the cooked variants don’t sell for more, so if you plan to sell them, don’t waste your time at a campfire.

  • Cooked Cod
    • Reduces incoming DMG for around 20 seconds
    • Replenishes a small amount of HP
    • Sells for 35 coins
  • Cooked Bass
    • Replenishes a small amount of HP
    • Sells for 45 coins
  • Cooked Snapper
    • Increases your Speed for a short duration
    • Replenishes a small amount of HP
    • Sells for 25 coins
