There’s a step beyond Gran Ray Cero. It’s kind of a pain to get hold of… but that’s the nature of earning anything worth having in Type Soul (Unless a code with everything you’re ever dreamed of drops from nowhere.) Seeing as quite a few people are struggling with this one, we decided to put together a guide on how to get Gran Death in Type Soul… without standing in Hueco Mundo for nine hours straight.
How To Get Gran Death In Type Soul
First I’m going to talk about what Gran Death even is, then I’ll explain how to get it, before giving a few tips on making acquiring it a little easier.
What Is Gran Death?
Gran Death is an upgrade for the Arrancar’s Gran Ray Cero. Not sure what the Gran Ray Cero is? Then you probably haven’t been eating your Hogyku Fragments every morning. As an Arrancar character, you need to consume 9 Hogyoku Fragments to acquire Gran Ray Cero. It’s a powerful Cero that costs you 10% of your own HP, but in turn will do 10% back, which has increasingly greater returns if your opponent has more HP than you do for any number of reasons. (Like they’re much tankier, or they’re winning the fight.) Gran Death is an even heavier hitter than Gran Ray, so it’s more or less the peak Cero move available in the current state of the game. (And if you’ve lost any of the endgame states like True Mode lately, you’ll probably be looking for any update you can get.)
How Do You Get Gran Death?
Gran Death is a rare drop from the newest world boss, the mighty Ikomikidomoe. It’s exclusive to Arrancar… which is just as well, as it’s useless to anyone else. We’ve covered Ikomikidomoe in more depth in our boss guide, but I’ll give you a short rundown here. This boss spawns around every three hours in Hueco Mundo. It’s timed by server age. He’s active for 30 minutes, and the server need to pile in to break down his whole health bar before then, or no-one gets any rewards. If you can take him down, and do enough damage to qualify for the rewards, there’s a 3% chance you’ll get Gran Death, which you can use to overwrite your Gran Ray Cero into something even more powerful.
Also, if you were thinking of using your Gran Ray Cero on Ikomikidomoe to speed this whole thing up… you should reconsider. Ironically, Gran Ray Cero doesn’t work on Ikomikidomoe, because the devs already figured out they’d have half the server blasting him with death lasers and removed them from the options.
What Can I Do To Maximize My Chances?
Yeah, I know. A 3% chance for a drop from the tankiest boss in the game, that spawns every three hours at best. There are a few things you can do to make it easier on yourself if you’re super serious about farming for the Gran Death.
- Check the server uptime. You can see it on the top of the screen when you enter a server. As Iko’s spawn time if determined by server age, it’s key to working out if the boss is about to appear. If you’re in a Hueco server that’s approaching 3 hours of uptime, stay put and wait to see if the boss spawns.
- Check for server invites. If you’re on the Type Soul Discord, make sure to check the LF Farming channel. This is where people will often link to servers where Ikomikidomoe has already spawned. It suits them to get more players in to deal damage. (Make sure to verify that any links you follow are legit before clicking anything, or course.
