Find out how to unlock the Slayers 2 Sound Breathing Style, where the Trainer NPC is located, and which items you need to collect. There are various Slayers 2 Breathing Styles to unlock. In fact, Sho’s got a guide on how to unlock Thunder Breathing in Slayers 2.
Slayers 2 Sound Breathing
Sound Breathing is one of the best Breathing Styles to use in combat, though personally, I prefer Serpent Breathing and Thunder Breathing, as stated in my Slayers 2 Breathing Style Tier List.
How to Unlock Sound Breathing in Slayers 2
The starting requirements for unlocking the Sound Breathing Style are:
- 10 Demon Horns
- 3 Beast Cores
- Reaching level 25
- 4K Wen
Meeting these requirements is then followed by visiting the Sound Breathing Trainer, Tengai. If you don’t meet these requirements, you cannot start the questline.
As for where the Sound Breathing Trainer is, you need to head to the Iceveil Valley. This comes with its own challenges, as the cold temperatures of Iceveil Valley cause you to take cold damage. To reverse this effect, you need to look out for campfires to replenish HP. If you’ve got the Everburn Lantern, make sure to equip it, as this grants immunity to the cold.
By following the path, you’ll eventually find the Sound Trainee boss. Head past this mini-boss and drop down from the ledge to jump into the water before swimming towards the wall. You need to climb up this wall with the Wall Climb ability to get to a higher spot, where you’ll find Tengai, the Sound Breathing Trainer.
Demon Horns
The 10 required Demon Horns can be obtained by defeating Hoyuzo Subordinates and the Hoyuzo boss in the Waterfall Cave. The Hoyuzo Subordinates have a 30% chance of dropping Demon Horns, whereas the Hoyuzo boss has a 50% chance. For a more detailed guide on how to get to the Waterfall Cave, read my How to Get Slayers 2 Demon Horns guide.
Beast Cores
Beast Cores have a 50% chance to drop from Beast Born Demons, who are found across the bridge at Mistfall Harbor. They only spawn during the nighttime, so you might have to wait around for a bit. Take a look at Sho’s How to Get Beast Cores in Slayers 2 guide for more information.
Sound Breathing Questline
After meeting the requirements listed above and speaking with the Sound Breathing Trainer [Tengai], it’s time to start the questline.
- Complete the Push Ups challenge by matching the prompts at the correct time
- Complete the Barbell Squats challenge, requiring you to reach 100%. To get to 100%, you need to keep the marker on the bar
- Next is the Boulder Split challenge, which requires matching the prompts to split the boulder in two
- The Cup Training challenge is a little different, as it’s based on memory. Remember where the ball is after the cups have been shuffled. You need to correctly guess where the ball is a total of 10 times. Each time you pick the wrong cup, you lose a life, and you start the challenge with 3 lives
- Head to Bamboo Grove to swim underwater to find 5 glowing rocks. Keep an eye on your oxygen when swimming underwater
- The last task is to defeat the Sound Trainee mini-boss that you passed on your way to Tengai
Once you complete all 6 tasks, you unlock the Sound Breathing Style, which you can then upgrade via the skill tree to unlock the exclusive Sound Breathing skills. If you don’t have many Skill Points spare, focus on levelling up to obtain more.
