Magmatar has surfaced as the first boss in Dig It, infesting servers with his heated rage as of the Volkayno update. In this Dig It Magmatar Guide, I tell you how to defeat this boss and how his loot pool works.

Dig It Magmatar Guide
Unfortunately, it’s a bit trickier than just whacking him with a Shovel. Instead, when Magmatar spawns, you’ll need to drop down into his boss room found in the centre of the volcano at Volkayno. He spawns every 20 minutes, and if you have a decent enough shovel, you can probably solo him. The Magmatar boss has two attack types including:
- Magma Arms – These deal damage as well as take damage. You must dig up the Magma arms to deplete Magmatar’s health.
- The arms appear as an Epic rarity when being dug up.
- They occasionally drop Magma Shards (Epic rarity) which decreases the boss spawn time by 30 seconds per shard.
- Heat Ripples – When Magmatar shifts his weight, a circle of heat emits from his body and ripples towards all players. To avoid taking damage simply jump over the heat.
These moves happen over two battle phases. When at half of his health, the boss grows in size and his attacks become more erratic. He’s still not too tricky to take down so long as you have a good rhythm to deal with his two attacks.
During the latter half of his phase, he will raise magma arms and slam players whilst simultaneously releasing heat ripples. I recommend focusing on the arms and ignoring the heat ripples as they don’t deal much damage and you can safely tank a few before worrying. Since the arms are the only way to damage the boss, it’s better to focus on them.
Magmatar Defeat Rewards
When defeated, Magmatar sinks into the pool of lava surrounding him and disappears for 20 minutes on cooldown. In the meantime, players can dig any raised terrain around where they battled him. The boss room generates collection items from the first two layers including Volkayno and Devil’s Pit. However, these aren’t the highlights of the boss rewards…
Instead, that title goes quite literally to the red ‘Boss Slayer’ Title which players obtain the first time they defeat him. Alongside this, there’s an incredibly rare chance for players to dig up the new Mythical Flying Red Carpet mount.
