How to Become a Shinigami

You spawn in as a Soul when you first load into Hollow Era with a new character. In Karakura Town, you can hold down the J key on your keyboard to display all nearby quests in the area. Only one quest should pop up, which is the one you need to pick up to become a Shinigami!

However, you are limited in time, as part of your chain breaks every 2 minutes. Once the entire chain is destroyed, you turn into a Hollow instead, therefore preventing you from becoming a Shinigami.

Unlocking Your Shikai

You can unlock your Shikai once you reach level 15. There is a quest to pick up from the Urihiro NPC, who asks you to defeat the Urahara boss. Upon completion, you unlock the ability to use your Shikai!

How to Use Your Shikai

You have a rage bar when in combat, which fills up when you either take damage or deal damage. Once the rage bar is filled, you can press the Y key on your keyboard to activate your Shikai.

Once your Reiatsu runs out, your Shikai deactivates. However, you can manually deactivate it by holding down the Y key again.

Progressing Your Shikai

You obtain a Mastery Point each time you use one of your Shikai Skills. There are Mastery Point milestones, which increase your Shikai’s Mastery Level. The higher the level, the more cosmetics you unlock for your Shikai.
