What are Fences?

If you’re reading this guide, you probably already know what a Fence is, but I’ll still go over it quickly!

One of the main ways of making money in Oblivion Remastered is by selling goods that you collect along your travels. You can acquire some of these items by looting bodies or chests you find. But you also have the option to steal items.

Whether you’ve broken into someone’s house or you’re perusing the local establishments, you are more than welcome to steal objects. Well, ‘welcome‘ is a strong word, unless you’re stealthy about it. There’s a chance you’ll get caught, unless your character is built in a way that makes it easier to pickpocket.

But what do you do with these stolen goods? You sell them to a Fence! They’re a type of NPC that specialises in purchasing illegally collected items. If you’re a member of the Thieves Guild, you need to know where to find Fences, otherwise, you can’t progress in the questline.
