How to Recharge Your Staff in Oblivion Remastered

Been using your staff in-game, then all of a sudden it ran out of charge, and now you can only use it as a melee weapon? Well, thankfully, you can recharge it.

In short, recharging your staff requires you to use Soul Gems, which you can fill with the Soul Trap spell. You then use the filled Soul Gem to recharge enchanted items, including your mage staff.

Visiting a Merchant

The most expensive way of recharging your staff is by taking it to a Merchant NPC. This costs quite a lot of Gold, so I don’t recommend going this route. However, if you don’t have any spare Soul Gems and you have plenty of Gold, then go for it.

Using Soul Gems

The best way to recharge your staff is by using filled Soul Gems. To do this, you must cast the Soul Trap spell on an enemy before you defeat them. After killing them, their soul is then trapped inside the Soul Gem.

Then, you can use the Soul Gem to recharge the staff or any other enchanted item that you have! The type of Soul Gem determines which enemies you can trap, with weaker Soul Gems allowing smaller enemies and stronger Soul Gems allowing larger, more powerful enemies.

As you can imagine, the stronger Soul Gems, like Black Soul Gems, are a much better choice, but are more difficult to get your hands on.

How to Get Soul Gems

To obtain Soul Gems, you can do so by randomly finding them on shelves, tables, inside random pieces of furniture, or chests. They can also be a quest reward!

If you are part of the Mages Guild, you can find plenty of Soul Gems scattered throughout the buildings, including the Arcane University in the Imperial City. Bear in mind, they are mostly Petty Soul Gems or Lesser Soul Gems, but still Soul Gems nonetheless.

They are also available to purchase from Alchemy Stores across the map and Mage Guild seller NPCs, but you’ll need quite a bit of extra Gold.

How to Unlock the Soul Trap Spell

To gain access to the Soul Trap spell, you need to reach Mysticism level 25. Once you hit this level, you can visit a variety of Mage Guild NPCs to purchase Soul Trap, all of which you can find within the Mages Guild buildings across the map.
