You’ll have to patiently wait for weather events to occur in Grow a Garden! The other weather types are included in our Grow a Garden Events guide.
Grow a Garden Thunderstorm
What are the benefits of a thunderstorm? Well, it has a chance to apply mutations to your crops, with both types increasing the selling value! It’s a great way to earn extra in-game coins.
Thunderstorm Weather Event
Thunderstorms are a randomly occurring weather event in Grow a Garden. Like all other server events in the game, they have a chance of spawning each time the weather shifts. The estimated spawn rate chance is around 10%!
During the thunderstorm, it rains heavily, and there’s a chance for lightning to strike. Due to the rain and lightning, your crops are more than likely to gain a mutation.
Shocked and Wet Mutations
Like the normal rainy weather, the thunderstorm has a 50% chance of applying the Wet mutation to your crops, which doubles the selling value.
If your crops are struck by lightning, they gain the Shocked mutation, which adds a 50x multiplier to the selling value. This mutation, as well as the Rainbow mutation, provides the largest multipliers available in the game so far. The lightning strikes every 4 to 5 seconds.
There is no guarantee that any of these strikes will hit your crops, and the weather event generally only lasts around 60 seconds in total.
Lightning Rod Gear
To boost your chances of gaining crops with the Shocked mutation, you can purchase and use a Lightning Rod. You can get this from the Gear Shop for 1 million in-game coins, though it has a 1.7% chance of appearing in the shop, and is of Mythical rarity.
By placing a Lightning Rod in your garden, the crops around it are more likely to be struck by lightning. However, this is still not a guarantee. It has a total of 3 uses!
