Our Dig Prismatic Shovel guide discusses the stats and passive ability of the shovel, as well as how to obtain it. We also have a guide on how to get the Monstrous Shovel in Dig!

Dig Prismatic Shovel

The aesthetic of the Prismatic Shovel makes it one of the prettiest ones in Dig! But appearance-wise, is it worth the in-game coins?

How to Get the Prismatic Shovel

To obtain the Prismatic Shovel, you need to wait for the Travelling Merchant NPC to spawn. This NPC sells more than just this shovel for 250K in-game coins, but he appears in random locations at random times. There is no way to estimate when or where he will spawn next.

I recommend keeping an eye on the in-game chat as a message appears letting you know where the Travelling Merchant is if he has spawned. Quickly hop into a vehicle and make your way to his location!

Keep in mind that the Prismatic Shovel is not always in stock, and it switches out with the Gold Digger Shovel. It all depends on RNG! There is always at least one shovel in stock.

The Travelling Merchant NPC remains in the same spot for a total of 10 minutes before despawning. There is no telling when he will spawn next, but in my experience, he appears quite often.

Prismatic Shovel Stats

Is the Prismatic Shovel worth the cost? It’s one of the easier shovels to get as there are no prerequisites, bar waiting for the Travelling Merchant to spawn in your server.

  • Luck: 20
  • Control: 9.5
  • DMG to bosses: 60
  • Strength: 9
  • Haste: 5

Passive Ability

The Prismatic Shovel’s passive ability grants a 20% chance for the items you dig up to have the Iridescent modifier. If an item is Iridescent, it sells for 3.5x the base value. This is one of the highest modifiers in Dig, and using the Prismatic Shovel is the only way to get it.
