Is there a specific diet for your Grow a Garden pet? We’ll explain what the best food for pets in Grow a Garden is and how a variety of factors can change your pets age and level.
Best Food For Pets In Grow a Garden
To make your pets older (which increases their value), you need to feed them. You can do this by equipping a crop and either clicking your pet, then selecting ‘Feed’. Or, you can hold down F if you are within range. You will see a message telling you how much hunger has been restored.
Keep in mind that you don’t have to feed your pet, they won’t run away or disappear. However, if their health bar reaches 0, your pet will not be able to age anymore.
What Do You Feed a Pet?
There are a few things you need to take into consideration when feeding your pet.
Crop Rarity
If you feed a pet rarer fruit, more of their hunger gets restored. Trust me, I learned this the hard way! To make their age increase, you need to opt for rarer crops.
Mutations
Similarly, crops with mutations will restore more health. I know you may be hesitant to feed your pets valuable crops that could earn you a profit, but if you have some to spare, make sure to feed them to your pets. Mutations that are rarer, such as golden or shocked, will restore more health. The rarer the better!
Pet Rarity
As I said, the rarer the better… and that goes for pet rarity too. The rarer your pet, the higher-value crops you need to feed them. For example, if I feed my Night Owl a strawberry (a common crop) with no mutations, it hardly makes a difference. However, if I feed it a Dragon Fruit (a mythical crop) with the shocked mutation, more health gets restored.
In short, the rarer the pet, the rarer the crops you need to feed it. Feeding my Bunny a Carrot will restore quite a lot of its health because they’re both common. However, feeding my Night Owl a Carrot will hardly do anything! On the other hand, feeding my Night Owl higher-rarity crops, preferably with mutations, will be better.
