The Grow a Garden Burnt mutation boosts the selling value of crops, but how do you get it? It requires a certain pet that is currently unobtainable. Enjoying the new update? Take a look at our Best Crafted Seed guide for Grow a Garden.
Grow a Garden Burnt
Charred crops, anyone? While they might not taste good, they sure do sell for more! This guide explains how you get the mutation and why it’s quite the rare find.
How to Get Burnt Crops in Grow a Garden
There is only one way to get crops with the Burnt mutation, and that is by placing the Cooked Owl pet in your garden. Thanks to its passive ability, ‘Let Him Cook’, there’s a 15.35% chance of the Cooked Owl applying the Burnt mutation to a random crop every 15 minutes.
However, there’s a chance that this pet may apply the Cooked mutation instead! Luckily, it’s more than likely that it will be the Burnt mutation, but you have to wait another 15 minutes if it doesn’t appear.
Burnt Mutation
If a crop has the Burnt mutation, it receives a selling value multiplier of 4x. This isn’t the largest multiplier in the game, so I recommend waiting for some other mutations to stack up on the crop before you sell it.
Burnt crops turn charcoal black, as if they have been left on the grill for a little too long!
How to Get the Cooked Owl Pet
Unfortunately, you can’t get the Cooked Owl pet anymore, unless someone wants to trade it with you. The Cooked Owl pet is a reward for logging in to Grow a Garden a few minutes before the Worker Bee update.
For those who did not play the game before the update’s launch, you can no longer get it. It is not available via Pet Eggs or in-game shops.
