The Fish It Blood Moon Event grants you the chance of getting fish with the Blood Moon Mutation. Fish It has a ton of rare fish to catch, including the event-exclusive Blood Moon Whale. For more rare catches, take a look at our Fish It Secret Fish guide.

Fish It Blood Moon Event

A rare event indeed.

When Does the Blood Moon Event Spawn?

Unfortunately, the Blood Moon event is not a naturally occurring server event. The admins of Fish It must activate it themselves, thus making the Blood Moon and admin event! It lasts for 5 minutes.

Now, when it does spawn, you need to head to Mount Hallow. This location was added in the Halloween update and is decorated just for the season. To reach Mount Hallow, you need to find the Ghost Ship on Fisherman Island. Step onto the glowing circle to teleport to the new location!

Blood Moon Mutation

While I go over the Blood Moon Whale below, let’s go over the Blood Moon Mutation, too. This mutation only appears when the Blood Moon server event is active. Luckily, you have a chance of getting a fish with the Blood Moon mutation no matter where you fish, though your chances are higher when fishing at Mount Hallow.

Blood Moon Whale

The Blood Moon Whale is a catch that is exclusive to the Blood Moon event. You have a 1 in 5 million chance of getting it, making it one of the rarest catches in Fish It. Again, you can only catch the Blood Moon Whale when fishing at Mount Hallow during the Blood Moon server event.

The best way to increase your chances of catching this whale is by using your strongest fishing rod and equipping your best bobbers and bait. If you have some Enchant Stones spare, and you do not already have an Enchant on your best rod, then I recommend enchanting the fishing rod as soon as possible.

With an enchanted rod, you can boost its stats! If you’re lucky enough, you can even boost the Luck stat of the rod, helping you to get rare catches more often. Fish It makes it obvious when you’ve lured in the Blood Moon Whale, as the exclamation mark that usually appears turns red.
