Dead Rails Horse

Riding a horse in Dead Rails does come with benefits, but it also comes with some disadvantages. It increases your overall movement speed when traversing outside of the train, meaning you can get to a building much faster whilst evading attacks.

You can also take part in combat whilst sitting on a horse, which makes it easier when battling against an outlaw who is also using a horse.

How to Get a Horse

Here’s how to get a horse! There are two main methods. Horses spawn randomly in the wild or towns, so always keep a lookout for them.

Obtain a Saddle

Firstly, you need a saddle. You can acquire one of these by visiting the General Stores that you find when arriving in towns. Keep in mind that you cannot buy Saddles from the General Store in the lobby area.

When you enter a General Store, there are 8 possible items to purchase. Only 4 of these items are available at once, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll find a Saddle in the first store you walk into.

Stealing a Horse

A more risky approach is stealing a horse from an outlaw. These enemies spawn randomly and are human, with some riding horses. Your main priority is defeating them as quickly as possible before they deal a sufficient amount of damage to your team and train.

However, once you beat them, you can take their horse! You can change the ownership of the horse to yourself by simply hopping onto the saddle.
