The Saw Fish is inspired by Pochita from the Chainsaw Man franchise! The fish turns orange and gets back legs, as well as its fins turning black, and a chainsaw sprouting from its head, hence the name.

How to Get the Saw Fish

The Saw Fish is the Shiny variant of the Handfish! To get the Saw Fish, you first need a Handfish, which is a Mythical-rarity catch. Once you have a Handfish in your inventory, either by your own hand or by another player giving you one, it’s time to appraise it.

Well, that is unless you manage to get lucky enough to catch a Shiny Handfish from the get-go. If not, like the majority of us, you have to visit the Appraiser NPC on Moosewood Island. This is the only way to get a Shiny fish outside of fishing and the Shiny Surge server event. A Shiny Surge increases your chances of catching a Shiny fish by 3%.

Each appraisal costs 450 in-game coins, and chances are, you’ll need to appraise multiple times before your fish turns into a Shiny. It’s one of the rarest Mutations, so good luck.

How to Catch a Handfish

To get a Handfish, you need to visit Mushgrove Swamp. It’s a Mythical-rarity fish so make sure your current fishing rod has a decent luck stat. As for its preferences, it likes:

  • Foggy weather
  • The Spring season
  • Any time of day
  • Insect bait

Note that once you do catch a Handfish, the progress speed reduces by 50% during the fishing minigame, so watch out!
