How to Save The Deer in 99 Nights in The Forest

Before you can save the Deer, you need to find them. As the map changes during each playthrough, there isn’t a specific location I can give. However, I found the Deer after I upgraded my campfire to level 2! They will be lying on a patch of damaged ground, unable to move.

There are three main things you need to do to heal and save the Deer.

Bandages

First things first, you need to find two bandages and use them to fix the Deer’s Antler and Broken Leg. If you have the Medic or Supporter Class, you’ll have no issue getting these. If you aren’t in this class, you can find bandages by fishing, inside the Clinic, inside structures, or from the Tool Workshop.

Once you have both, use them on the Deer. This will wake the Deer, but they still won’t be able to do much.

Meat

Now, you need to find meat to feed the Deer. Usually, it takes between 10 to 25 pieces to fully feed the Deer, as each piece will heal it a little more. You can get meat by killing animals around the forest, such as rabbits and wolves.

Purple Fur

Last but not least, you need to locate Purple Fur. You can also find some pieces near the Deer, and more outside the cave, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find. After you hand the fur over, the Deer seeks revenge on the one who hurt them.

At the moment, we don’t know who, or what, did this! But we do see a cutscene where the Deer goes to a large cave. Something screams, and the Deer screams back while its eyes turn red. We get a small glimpse of the entity inside the cave, as we see wings sticking out. Perhaps it can fly, and it’s similar to the Owl?

Why Help The Deer?

Considering the Deer is usually the one after you, why help it? Well, once you fully heal the Deer and complete all the steps, they will fight on your side. A message will even appear on screen saying: “The Deer will remember your help. It may help you later on.”

During Cultists’ attacks, the Deer will easily destroy them and fight for you. Hopefully, there is a part 2 for this update where we can find out what exactly happened, and how the Deer will help us ‘later on’.
