The foundation of any character build is a player’s Race. In a game where survival is critical, so that you don’t lose your save, beginning with a race that suits your needs is important. So, let’s get into each lineage, including their features, perks and progression.

Best Races

The ideal lineages to settle for!

Nomad

  • Race Features
    • Nomads appear to have black skin, purple hair, and a dark aura clouding their bodies.
  • Race Perks
    • Quicker Mana-based dashing than other lineages, and a faster climbing speed. When not in combat, Nomads can teleport back to spawn from anywhere.
  • Progression
    • At day 15, Nomads can disperse into feathers by dashing, gaining temporary invincibility.

Oblynian

  • Race Features
    • Grey-ish skin with pink hair and accessories.
  • Race Perks
    • This tomeless lineage can utilise any skill without the corresponding Class.
  • Progression
    • At day 15, the Oblynian unlocks a move called Assimilate, which allows them to take the last skill a downed player used. Assimilate only works on other races, and an Oblynian cannot use it on a fellow kin.

Phantom

  • Race Features
    • Pale white skin with grey hair and accessories.
  • Race Perks
    • Lifelong affinity and alignment, having 9 lives, alongside gaining 2x affinity from quests and activities that distribute alignment. Phantoms also gain Revitalise, a skill which fills their hunger bar in exchange for toxicity.
  • Progression
    • Gain a move called Dance Moon, luring anyone in range.

Hylotl

  • Race Features
    • Teal blue skin with red hair and accessories. This lineage also sports fins on either side of their head.
  • Race Perks
    • Naturally regenerate hunger and enjoy the perk of fewer Hitsun over time. The more days this lineage survives, the fewer Hitsun they will take from moves.
  • Progression
    • More days equate to less stun animation.

Avian

  • Race Features
    • Blue skin, dappled with feathers, and a beaked face.
  • Race Perks
    • Avians can jump higher than the average race, paired with a slower fall.
    • Leaping Mana: Requires 50% or more Mana.
  • Progression
    • At day 10, gain Hawk Stance, which increases damage output by 1.5x. Leaping Sky is also usable at any mana %.

Great alternatives if you think you’d better benefit from the perks of these races.

Kaoshin

  • Race Features
    • Purple hair with grey hair and accessories.
  • Race Perks
    • This race can siphon Karma from gripped players.
  • Progression
    • At day 5, gain the Gate cast ability, which allows them to Gate themselves, and no one else.

Orc

  • Race Features
    • Deep red skin with black hair and accessories.
  • Race Perks
    • Tank buffs, such as additional health and hunger. This race has an affinity for the chaotic alignment, gaining a little chaos on spawn (-2).
  • Progression
    • At day 15, Orcs adopt a skill titled Rage Mode, which increases their total health, regeneration, and damage output. This skill has a cooldown of 1 use per in-game day.

Goblin

  • Race Features
    • Green skin with dark green hair and accessories, alongside pointed ears.
  • Race Perks
    • Large hunger bar.
  • Progression
    • At day 2, this race will heal from consuming cooked mushrooms, meat, or anything else edible.
    • At day 5, this race gains its toxicity bar.

Lihzahrd

  • Race Features
    • Pale skin and two-pointed horns atop their head.
  • Race Perks
    • Negate damage over time effects, such as being on fire or poisoned. Also has an above-average climbing speed.
  • Progression
    • At day 15, Lihzahrds gain a 50% damage reduction from all physical weapon attacks, and gain a fire breath ability.

Dwarf

  • Race Features
    • Dark tan skin with blonde-yellow hair and accessories.
  • Race Perks
    • No speed debuffs, and an increase of defence from any armour worn.
  • Progression
    • At day 10, Dwarves can buy any armour.

Human

  • Race Features
    • Peach skin, with orange hair and accessories.
  • Race Perks
    • Gains additional cash from selling to merchants, as well as inheriting their base class for free.
  • Progression
    • At day 5, Humans gain the ability to see all trinkets within a short range.

Novakid

  • Race Features
    • Vibrant yellow glowing skin, as well as an aura during mana charging.
  • Race Perks
    • Infinitely charge Mana in sunlight, as well as becoming a light and heat source when charging Mana.
    • Supernova [Skill] allows the Novakid to explode with light, dealing massive damage to anyone within the radius of this ability. If low enough, this move will automatically execute anyone caught.
    • Supernova is only usable at low health and will also kill the player.
  • Progression
    • At day 15, Novakid gains a skill loaded with general buffs in exchange for their health being drained.

Robokid

  • Race Features
    • Metallic silver features.
  • Race Perks
    • Infinite hunger, but unable to consume potions.
    • Electro Discharge [Skill] knocks back anyone in range in exchange for the player’s health (around 1/5th)
  • Progression
    • At day 10, Robokid gains a self-repairing skill for passively rebuilding health over time.

Elf

  • Race Features
    • Light skin, blonde hair and accessories, and pointed ears.
  • Race Perks
    • Mana and orderly affinity, gaining +2 Alignment on spawn. Elves also charge mana faster, as well as consuming it more slowly when active in exchange for hunger instead.
  • Progression
    • At day 10, an Elf’s Mana Respiration becomes more efficient, draining less hunger than before. Evles also gain a skill to summon armour based on their mana, which reflects any magic attack and charged blow, dealing 2x damage to the caster.

Apex

  • Race Features
    • Monkey-like features, including a monkey tail.
  • Race Perks
    • Apexes gain experience affinity, earning 2x EXP on all weapons.
  • Progression
    • At day 5, an Apex gains the ability to climb without mana consumption. However, this climb is extremely slow.

Florian

  • Race Features
    • Green bodies with winding weeds around the arms and a small blooming flower atop their head.
  • Race Perks
    • Regenerate hunger in sunlight. Florians can also shoot poison in the form of pollen, which consumes hunger.
  • Progression
    • At day 15, Florian’s health regeneration becomes more efficient, and they gain a beaming ability which deals flame damage over time to enemies.

Vampire

  • Race Features
    • Pale skin, which burns in direct sunlight.
  • Race Perks
    • After drinking a potion to become a vampire, this race adopts Feed, which allows them to eat non-vampires to replenish their hunger.
  • Progression
    • To progress Vampire, the player must seek out interactable characters who provide training. This enhances the Vampire with:
      • Increased Mobility
      • Faster Health Regeneration
      • Lessened Burn Damage
      • The ability to turn other players into Vampires.

Construct

  • Race Features
    • Depending on the existing race, the skin simply lightens.
  • Race Perks
    • After approaching a specific character with requires materials, they’ll offer this subrace to the player. This adorns them with the Toxic Affinity and Frost Resistance perks.
    • Toxic Affinity – A Larger toxicity bar alongside the Cleanse move to degenerate toxicity in return for hunger.
    • Frost Resistance – High resistance to cold climates.
  • Progression
    • No progression.

Werewolf

  • Race Features
    • Glowing red eyes and wolf ears.
  • Race Perks
    • After approaching a specific character with requires materials, they’ll offer this subrace to the player. This adorns them with the following perks.
      • Howl – Tags anyone in a radius after the player howls.
      • The Chaser – Increased movement speed at night
      • Midnight Hunter – Damage buff during night.
  • Progression
    • No progression.

Zombie

  • Race Features
    • Depending on the player’s existing race, their skin tone will darken.
  • Race Perks
    • After approaching a specific character with requires materials, they’ll offer this subrace to the player. This adorns them with the following perks.
      • Life and Hunger Affinity – Increased Health, increased Health Regeneration, and loses hunger slower when regaining health.
  • Progression
    • No progression.

Android

  • Race Features
    • No notable features.
  • Race Perks
    • After approaching a specific character with requires materials, they’ll offer this subrace to the player. This adorns them with the following perks.
      • Metal Defence – Increased Defence.
      • Recharge – Reset the cooldown on some Skills.
