The Spiked Mechanics are fairly easy to remember once you’re used to them! From serving to feinting, if you want to be a good teammate, you need to know all about them.

Spiked Mechanics
All of the mechanics you need to know about during a match!
Hitting the Ball
When you hold down the M1 button on your mouse, you charge up your hit. Letting go of the M1 button sends your arm toward the ball, hitting it in the direction of your camera. Fully charged hits go further and have more of an impact, though charging a hit to 100% isn’t always possible.
Serving
Launch the ball into the air and strike it to send it over to the opponent’s side of the court. There are 2 Serv variants:
- Floater Serve
- Hold the M1 button and jump into the air before hitting the ball, sending the ball along a curved pathway
- Jump Serve
- Hold the M2 button and jump into the air before hitting the ball, sending the ball in the direction of the spike
Blocking
Whilst your avatar is in the air, press the M2 button on your mouse to block. When you block a ball, it goes back to the opponent’s side.
Wiping
If you manage to spike the ball when an opponent is trying to block, Wiping allows you to break through their hands. This means the ball lands on the opponent’s side of the court and can even possibly end up outside the lines.
Vaulting
To vault, you need to jump over the barriers at the back of the court. The only time you need to do this is if the ball goes past your side of the court. If you manage to hit the ball before it touches the ground, you can send it back over to the opposing side or to another player on your team.
Setting
In Spiked, Setting has 2 variants. There’s the Backward Set and the Forward Set!
- Backward Set
- Press or hold the R button on your keyboard to hit the ball backwards from where your camera is facing
- Forward Set
- Press or hold the F button on your keyboard to Set in the direction of where your camera is facing
Jumping
Press or hold down the spacebar on your keyboard to perform a jump. You can charge your jumps to increase the power! Watch out for your stamina though, as jumping reduces it. You don’t have to remain stationary in the air, as you can tilt left or right to reach an oncoming ball.
Receiving
When you’re on the ground, hold the M2 button on your mouse to get into the Bump Stance. Hold down the M1 button to charge your hit and let go to send the ball in the direction your camera is facing. Keeping your camera straight on sends the ball further away!
Feinting
Charging up a hit whilst holding down the M1 button and then following up by clicking the M2 button, turns a regular hit into a Feint. When this happens, the ball rises above the opponent’s block, sending the ball to the ground quickly.
