This might get a bit confusing. The Sailor Piece Shadow Sword is a term coined for both the regular version and the Shadow Monarch Sword. It doesn’t help that they share the same rarity in Sailor Piece, too.
To find out which Shadow Sword is truly the best, I’ve ranked them in my Sailor Piece Sword Tier List.
Sailor Piece Shadow Sword
Mythical in rarity, both Shadow Swords are highly sought after by players right now. But to get one of them, you need to obtain a previous sword first. The other is much easier and requires only a few items to craft.
Shadow Monarch Sword
There isn’t a quest to complete for the Shadow Monarch Sword, per se, but as usual, you need to collect some items. This includes a Mythical rarity sword, which you need to unlock first. You’re looking for the Shadow Monarch Trainer NPC, who you can find on Dungeon Island.
To obtain the Shadow Monarch Sword, you must collect:
- 2x Kamish Daggers
- 0.75% to 1.4% chance to drop from the Shadow Monarch boss in the Double Dungeon
- 10x Monarch Cores
- 6.75% to 12% chance to drop from the Shadow Monarch boss in the Double Dungeon
- 1x Shadow Crystal
- 0.5% to 1% chance to drop from the Shadow Monarch boss in the Double Dungeon
- 5x Monarch Essence
- 2.75% to 6.5% chance to drop from the Shadow Monarch boss in the Double Dungeon
- King of Shadows (Title)
- 0.8% to 1.15% chance to drop from the Shadow Monarch boss in the Double Dungeon
- Buffs your DMG by 62.5%
- Sung Jin Woo V1 (Sword)
- I’ve explained how to get this sword in the section below
How to Get the Sung Jin Woo V1 Sword
We have to jump back a step and obtain the Sung Jin Woo Sword before we even think about the Shadow Monarch. Visit the Jinwoo Trainer NPC on Sailor Island to unlock a set of quests and the crafting recipe. The recipe is as follows:
- 3x Dark Rings
- Chance to drop from the Jin Woo boss on Sailor Island
- 1x Shadow Heart
- Chance to drop from the Jin Woo boss on Sailor Island
- 6x Abyss Edge
- Chance to drop from the Jin Woo boss on Sailor Island
- 7.5K Gems
- 2.5 million Gold
As for the questline, the tasks in order are:
- Take 15 million DMG in total
- Defeat 750 NPCs
- Deal a total of 75 million DMG
- Defeat 35 players
- Defeat the Jinwoo boss 15 times
Shadow Sword
Whilst a little confusing, the Shadow Sword is separate from the Shadow Monarch Sword, and has absolutely nothing to do with it. The method of obtaining this one is much easier, thankfully.
Head to Dungeon Island and look for the Shadow Trainer NPC. He asks for:
- 4x Shadow Essence
- 2% to 4.5% chance to drop from the Shadow boss in the Shadow Dungeon
- 1x Atomic Core
- 0.75% to 3% chance to drop from the Shadow boss in the Shadow Dungeon
- 8x Void Seeds (not to be confused with Void Fragments)
- 4.5% to 15% chance to drop from the Shadow boss in the Shadow Dungeon
- 20x Umbral Capsules
- 12.5% to 35% chance to drop from the Shadow boss in the Shadow Dungeon
- 15K Gems
- 10 million Gold
Which Shadow Sword Should You Pick?
It depends entirely on your character’s build, really. Due to the trickier obtainment process of the Shadow Monarch Sword, it’s arguably the better of the two. The regular Shadow Sword is still a strong pick, though.
Personally, I think I’d rather put my time into getting the Shadow Monarch Sword. It’s a strong replacement for the regular one, and in exchange for the Sung Jin Woo V1 Sword, you’re wielding a much better blade overall.
