The tool you use determines the rarity of what you collect in Shells, which is why my Shells Tools Tier List is the perfect accompaniment to your ventures. The rarer and heavier the shell, the more Shellings you get. I’ve also covered the best Traits for your tools in Shells, too.

If you’d rather collect bugs than shells, check out my Catch Bugs Net Tier List to help you get started.

Best Traits to Use in Shells

You can roll for Traits on your tools by spending Pearls. There are a variety of Traits to obtain, but naturally, there are those that all players should focus on getting. These are, admittedly, the rarest Traits, which are much more difficult to roll.

My top recommendations when it comes to Traits are:

  • Transcendent
    • All of your stats are increased by 150%, ignoring the maximum cap of each one
    • 0.024% drop chance
  • Celestial
    • All stats are increased by 80%
    • 0.24% drop chance
  • Chain
    • When you gather a rare shell, your Luck increases by 40% for 10 seconds
    • 2.4% drop chance

As you can probably tell, I tend to prefer Traits that increase the Luck stat of tools. The luckier a tool is, the more likely you are to get rare shells, which sell for more Shellings.
